HARD TRUTHS OF CONSERVATION

Originally broadcast on History Channel, Season 3 will air on Discovery Channel. I was brought on by the Conservation Film Company as a co-producer and Director of the series alongside Sean Viiljeon. I have also acted as a DoP for several episodes in the series - primarily on the African-based stories.

The conservation of our natural ecosystems has never been more crucial, with almost 8 billion people on the planet. But what does “Conservation” in the modern world require? Dan Cabela sets out on a journey across the globe to explore the “Hard Truths Of Conservation” with a host of experts in vastly different contexts. The idea that Sustainable Use can play a vital role in preserving habitat for wildlife and sustaining communities alike is an impossible statement to many people.

 

The benefits of treating wildlife resources as renewable and valuable are concepts that seem complex and yet, when unpacked in a highly entertaining format, become difficult to argue. From how the practice manages healthy wildlife populations, provides employment and prevents illegal poaching to the role wildlife has played in our diet. Dan participates in hands-on conservation initiatives funded by sportsmen and shares the reality of areas supported by sustainable use on the ground.
